Power Up Ōtaki
Kia Hiko Ake Ōtaki

Solar, so good.

Aotearoa New Zealand's first ever community owned solar farm.

That's our Rau Kūmara system, set up in 2020 thanks to Wellington Community Trust funding. Its 240 panels (107 kWp/ peak power) provide electricity for the Ōtaki Wastewater Treatment Plant next door,

while 52 panels (23kWp) supply Ōtaki College with 'clean' energy.

Excess power is sold back to the grid.

The money generated goes straight into the Whakahiko Ōtaki–Energise Ōtaki Fund to help turn other bright ideas into sparky realities.

Ngā mihi to Power Up Ōtaki's funders and sponsors.
