This weekend Ōtaki Bike Space volunteers (including 2 new volunteers!) fixed 15 bikes, now stacked up ready and waiting for the Great Bike Giveaway in November.
Last month's mini-giveaway confirmed that Ōtaki is keen on 2-wheelers.
Thank you very much to New World Ōtaki, who keep our wheels spinning so we can roll out the good times.
This weekend Bike Spacers also took a trailer-load of donated bikes to "bike heaven".
Says lead biker Kirsty Doyle:
"We wish we could fix every donated bike. But the rusty bikes and the ones with major issues like faulty brakes... they take too long to make road-worthy. We need to know that kids (and adults too!) are going to be pleased with what they're getting, and be safe on them."
Got a healthy bike to share? Thank you very much.
Please roll it into Energise Ōtaki's office any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 10am-2pm (7 Main St.).
Ōtaki Refuse Transfer Station (1 Riverbank Road) will recycle your old bike for free.
The next Ōtaki Bike Space Volunteer Fix-it Session will be on Saturday, 20th July.
