The next Ōtaki Repair Cafes is on Sunday, 30th November.

All Cafés are held at Ōtaki Memorial Hall (next to the library, on Main St.)

Do you have items you'd like repaired? Please fill out this form so we can plan ahead.

Repairs requests for Ōtaki Repair Café.

If you can, please email us a description of the item you want mended. Then we can aim to bring the right tools, or try to source or recommend replacement parts.

Please bring:

• any useful parts for the items needing repairs, e.g. a zip (of the right length and colour) or plugs for electrical appliances

• money for food and drinks, and potentially koha

You might also want to bring something (in good, working condition) to the Swap Table.

There may be costs for special replacement parts, or if work beyond Café hours is needed to complete the job.

It’s your choice to proceed or not, if so.

Repair Cafés are about fixing what’s old, but also building new

• repair skills

• relationships! connections!

This is a great chance to

• help at a repair table, sharing your skills

• chat with another local

• bond over the good feels that come from transforming 'waste' back into treasure.

So, no. We reckon it's better than business.

We appreciate koha.

Koha goes straight back into supporting the project, including paying for smaller replacement parts and consumables.

Everyone working at the Repair Café is volunteering their time.

Each Refreshment Café’ is run as a fundraiser by a different local community group, and all proceeds support their work.

Prices are kept friendly, so that everybody can enjoy a coffee and cake or something savoury.

One in, one out…bring along:

• books

• objects you’ve loved but are downsizing

• working appliances you no longer need

• your homemade jam or chutney or baking

• seedlings or spare seeds etc.

Leave them on the table for someone else to love: pick up something you want!

Share the satisfaction of finding treasure while rescuing goods from landfill.

Please bring items in the kind of condition a dear friend would be delighted to receive them in.
